But, that didn’t stop Roger Parks and Cook Portable Warehouses from bringing families storage solutions during that tragic time.

Roger Parks has worked with Cook Portable Warehouses for more than 15 years. He’s been a dealer manager where he’s set up dealers across the country and helped out where he could. He now runs a Cook shed lot in Clarksville, TN.

“One of my favorite markets while on the road was Gulfport, Miss.” he said. “After hurricane Katrina, I slept on a cardboard box in an old hardware store,” he said, where he sold sheds to families who needed shelter as their homes were restored or new ones were built.

The most important part of that time to him was his ability to help people, not just providing a storage solution, but for some, a sturdy shelter.

“One day a lady came in crying with her babies. The night before a coyote had gotten in her tent and got in her food. That day we put her in a 12×24 cabin,” Parks said. Her little family stayed in that portable building until her house was put back together.

“It was unbelievable,” he said describing how they were able to help people while selling sheds and living in a warehouse with busted out windows from the store.

“Now, I’m selling to our soldiers,” Parks said, describing his shed lot in Clarksville, TN. Most military families don’t stay in one spot for more than 3 years or so, and so we work on making the purchase easy. Parks said we try to get them what they need, when they need it. Sometimes that looks like families renting, other times we’re helping them sell their shed when they’re relocated.

They may come in looking for a place to store their lawn mower or motorcycle, but Parks always asks them this question: “Do you have any totes?”

“Every military guy has a hundred totes of storage,” Parks said, so he almost always directs them to the lofted barn, so they can have easy to access overhead storage. This gives them the ability to keep their utility vehicles safe, as well as their extra belongings.

Parks enjoys helping people find the solution they need, whether it’s a cabin in times of trouble, or simply extra storage space.
